NSA Ajit Doval and his Canadian counterpart organised a classified meeting in Singapore last week, as per a report in the US-based newspaper, The Washington Post. This meeting comes amidst the ongoing diplomatic tensions between the two countries over the alleged murder of Khalistani terrorist- Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Armed with evidence confirming India's association with the Lawrence Bisnoi Gang, Canadian officials accused India of executing attacks on Sikh separatists and the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

The Washington Post's report is formed on the basis of anonymous statements by Canadian officials. The MEA has not issued any formal statement on the report.

As per the report, referring the Canadian representatives, the Indian NSA denied any knowledge of Lawrence Bishnoi. Later on, Doval admitted that Lawrence Bisnoi was capable of inciting violence irrespective of where he is imprisoned.

The meeting was attended by Canadian security adviser- Nathalie Drouin, Deputy Foreign Minister- David Morrison and one member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. The discussion went on for five hours with Canada urging India to end the growing trend of violence in the country.

Ajit Doval was also informed that the trial of four suspects in Nijjar's killing will be organised next month which would mean that details concerning Indian association with attacks on Sikh separatists are likely to be made public.

The report claimed the Indian security adviser refused Indian connection to the Nijjar murder case or any further violence in Canada, irrespective of the evidence.

High Commissioner Sanjay Verma along with six Indian diplomats who were ousted from Canada claimed to be associated with the case, according to the report.

In response, India has refuted all the allegations, terming them as unreasonable accusations and directed them to the political interests of the Canadian PM. In addition, six Canadian diplomats, including the top diplomat in New Delhi have been ejected by India.
